Saudi Licensing Exam (SLE) or Saudi Medical Board Exam is the mandatory test needed to be cleared for all the medical professionals who dream to work in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Presently the test is a preliminary criterion for considering for medical jobs in Saudi Arabia, so candidates attend the test in their home country. This exam is different for different medical categories like Physicians, Dentists, Nurses, Pharmacists and other medical technical staff. It is a computer-based test and the outcome of the examination is available immediately after the exam. In the test, the nurses are given 2 hours to finish 70 questions in multiple choice formats. The passing score is 45% for nurse technician but, for nurse specialists, it is 50%. The exam for nurses commonly consists of Nursing Fundamentals (28%), Medical (23%), Surgical (20%), Pediatric (16%) and Community (13%).
The Qatar Supreme Council of Health has also partnered with PROMETRIC to provide computer based medical licensing examinations to assess the competency of health practitioners seeking registration and licensure in the State of Qatar. The exam is mandatory for all job seekers in medical field such as General practitioner, Dentists, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, and other technicians. The computer-based test is for two and half hours and the candidates obtains 100 MCQ questions. For nurses the questions will be from all over their subjects, with emphasis on Nursing foundations, Medical Surgical Nursing, Maternity Nursing etc. The pass score is 50% for nurses and other technicians. Primary source verification (PSV) will also be carried out to check the authenticity the educational background, training, experience as well as other credentials of all healthcare practitioners applying for registration and licensing in both the private and public healthcare sectors in the State of Qatar.
Oman medical speciality board (OMSB) along with Prometric presently conducts computer based tests for 22 different medical specialities. The exam will be conducted in international testing centers, with 70 MCQs need to be covered by 2 hours. Few Oman Prometric exams have 100 questions with a duration of 2.5 hours. A fee of USD 175 need to be paid for Technicians and Technologists while Physicians need to pay USD 195. The passing score for exam is 60% and each candidate is allowed with maximum three chances in a calendar year. Score report will be given right after the exam.
The Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (HAAD) is the regulative body of the Healthcare Sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with an objective to define a strategy for the health system, monitor and analyze the health status of the population and performance of the system The medical professionals who seek job in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain need to clear the examination conducted by HAAD. The registration for HAAD exam is done after Primary source verification and Credential approval. HAAD along with Pearson Vue conduct the computer based exam for medical professionals who trained outside and seek registration with the health authority of Abu Dhabi. The exam for Registered Nurse/ Registered midwife is for 3 hours with 150 multiple choice questions, while for Practical Nurse it will be for 2 hour with 100 MCQs. HAAD examination results usually go through a standardized difficulty assessment and the passing score depends how difficult the exam seems to be. The result will be published immediately after the test and pass percentage may vary from 65% – 85%.
Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is the governing body established by law to overlook the health care sector in the Emirate of Dubai. Healthcare professionals applying for licensure are required to pass DHA assessment in order to acquire professional license and practice in the Emirate of Dubai. The DHA assessment can be either Computer Based or Oral depending on the health professional’s category. The exam registration for DHA is preceded by Credential approval and Primary source verification. The DHA exam for nurses is a computer based exam with 100 MCQs that need to be finished within two and half hours. The pass percentage for Registered nurse and Nurse assistant will be 70. Once the candidate clear the exam, the license will be valid for 5 years. The candidates are not allowed to take exam more than 3 times in a calendar year.
