Dr. Philomina Jacob is an Academic Board Member at HCI and is much valued for her contributions to HCI’s training programs and curriculum. She had her B.Sc. Nursing from Govt. College of Nursing Kottayam and M. Sc Nursing in Medical Surgical Nursing from Govt. College of Nursing Thiruvananthapuram. She was awarded PhD in Nursing from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences under National PhD consortium. Dr. Philomina has over 25 years of experience in the nursing profession, having worked her way up through various levels from staff nurse at Batra Hospital, New Delhi to her latest esteemed position of Professor cum Principal at Welcare College of Nursing, Ernakulam. Currently she is the Director of Studies – Curriculum Development at Health Careers Institute. She also has other academic qualifications namely, Master of Science in Psychology from University of Madras, and PG Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics from National University of Advanced Legal Studies. Philomina has received many accolades and awards through her career, including the prestigious Presidents Silver Medal in 1989. She has served as President – TNAI Central Zone from 2013 -2018, President – Alumni Association, Govt College of Nursing, Kottayam since 2015, and has been a Member of the Editorial Board, Kerala Nursing Forum from 2015 onwards. She has published many articles and made valuable contributions to text books and publications like the Malayala Manorama and Jaypee Publishers.
Mrs Thresiamma Sugathan has served as Principal of the Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai as well as Principal of the Bombay Hospital College of Nursing, Mumbai and is well qualified to serve in her present capacity on the Academic Board of HCI. She holds a M.Sc. Nursing (MED.SURG.NSG.) from SNDT University, a P C B.Sc. Nursing from Mumbai University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing from MGM, Navi Mumbai. During her rich and varied career of over four decades, she has attended many national and international conferences where she has presented papers of significance, and is currently the President of the TNAI Mumbai City Branch. She was instrumental in upgrading the School of Nursing to College of Nursing (Diploma course to Degree course) at Jaslok, Mumbai and was also responsible for establishing the MSc Nursing course at Bombay Hospital. A natural leader and visionary, she has successfully organised many workshops, seminars and special events for nurses across the country.
Mr. Jeril Cherian, Principal, Health Careers Institute Pvt. Ltd, Kochi is a valuable member on the HCI Board. He holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing and has completed numerous certificate courses and programs in healthcare, including the Infection Control Link Nurse program from Dubai Hospital Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Infection Control Certificate programme from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences Kochi. He also completed Pre-Departure and Orientation Training from Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and American Heart Association’s instructor and training centre faculty in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support courses. He is Master trainer for Emergency Medical Technician, General Duty Assistant, Home Health Aide, Diabetic Educator, Frontline Health Worker from Healthcare Sector Skill Council, Mr. Jeril has conducted many workshops in India and abroad and has gained valuable experience in healthcare environments by working in various hospitals in India and abroad.
Dr. Latha R, JDNE Joint Director of Nursing Education (Rtd), Directorate of Medical Education, Govt. of Kerala ,Thiruvananthapuram, is a multifaceted personality with a deep commitment to the nursing field and passion to serve others. She has an overall experience of 35 years, serving in different capacities throughout her Nursing career. She completed her B. Sc Nursing from Govt. College of Nursing, Thiruvananthapuram and M. Sc Nursing from College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore. She has also done her Diploma in Nursing Administration, Diploma in Research & Development (2003) and Ph. D in Nursing from University of Kerala.
She has excelled in her professional field with an extensive experience of twenty years in the nursing education and fifteen years in administration. Dr Latha was Registrar of Kerala Nurses and Midwive’s Council for three and a half years. She also served as a Chairperson, Board of Nursing at University of Calicut & CUSAT. She was a member of Board of Studies of UG & PG Boards in the Universities of Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and the University of Kannur.
She has outshone in her career overseas as well, being the Chairperson, Task Force for OBG Nursing Curriculum, MOH, Sultanate of Oman. Furthermore, she has been on the editorial board of three medical journals Indian Journal of Nursing Education, CON, CMC, Vellore, The Journal of Nursing Research, Govt. CON and Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and Kerala Nursing Forum, TNAI, Kerala Branch. Publication. In addition, she also participated in several International, National and State level conferences and seminars. On the top of it all, she has also contributed a chapter in the textbook “Newer Trends in Management of Nursing Services and Education by Dr. Alamelu Venketaraman (2017).
