General duty assistant (GDA) Course is a central government recognized certificate course by Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) under the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC).

  • About the course

    General Duty Assistant (GDAs) is also known as "Nursing Care Assistants", "Nursing Assistants", "Nursing Aides", in a hospital settings.

    General Duty Assistant acts as a basic health care provider and demonstrates techniques to maintain the personal hygiene needs of the patient. They should practice infection control policy and know right methods of bio medical waste management.

    GDA works in collaboration with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to deliver the prescribed healthcare services to their patients. General Duty Assistants should demonstrate basic patient care skills, communication skills, and ethical behavior at all times. He / She should know their work limits and maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.

    A General Duty Assistant has many career options and can grow to take on more responsibility, similar to an entry level nurse, specialize in critical care or other departments, work independently as a home nurse, or even study further to become a qualified nurse.

    This course is designed for 420 hours which includes 100 hours of theory, 140 hours of practical and 180 hours of clinical training.

    •  Minimum educational qualifications: Preferably Class x, but class VIII is also considered in certain situations.
    •  Maximum educational qualifications: Not Applicable
    •  Minimum Job Entry Age: 18 Years
    •  Maximum Job Entry Age: 35 Years
    •  Experience: Not Applicable

  • Course award

    On the successful completion of the course, the student will be awarded 'General Duty' Certificate by Healthcare Sector Skill Council.

    INR 10000.00, Options available for individuals who meet criteria for PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana)
