ASHI Emergency Medical Response is designed to provide non-EMS responders with a level of training comparable to a professional Emergency Medical Responder. This 48-hour course is consistent with national EMS curriculum requirements and educations standards, however, it is not the intent of the ASHI Emergency Medical Response program to cross the EMS scope of practice threshold.

    Qualification / Pre-requisites

    Need to have BLS certification to enroll for the course. Successful completion is based on achievement of the core learning objectives rather than a prescribed instruction time.

    •    Chapter 3 – Wellness and Safety of the Emergency Medical Responder
    •    Chapter 4 – Introduction to Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy, and Lifespan Development

    •    Chapter 6 – Principles of Effective Communication

    •    Chapter 9 – Oxygen Therapy

    Module 4
    •    Chapter 10 – Resuscitation and the use of the Automated External Defibrillator

    •    Chapter 12 – Principles of Patient Assessment
