Diabetes is the world’s fastest growing chronic disease. It can happen to anybody. Type 1 diabetes is commonly found with children and young adults, whereas Type 2 diabetes is more commonly found within the age group of 40 to 59 years.
Diabetes increases the risk of stroke, cardiovascular disease and other conditions. As diabetes and associated conditions continue to increase the burden of care on the healthcare system, there has been a push towards patient education and self-management strategies.
The core intention of the course is to provide specific knowledge on diabetes needed for provision of quality care to persons with diabetes and support their families or carers.
